Special Projects

CLF supports a variety of special projects including the foundation’s inaugural project, The Clara Braithwaite Center for Oncology and Nuclear Medicine at Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) in Barbados.

The Clara Braithwaite Center for Oncology and Nuclear Medicine at Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) in Barbados was established in 2012 with a $1.75M investment in QEH’s first modern radiotherapy machine, the Equinox External Beam Therapy System as well as additional radiotherapy equipment. Today, CLF is collaborating with QEH around the long term sustainability of the center as well as supporting the pediatrics unit.

Given that Rihanna’s grandmother Clara Braithwaite had cancer herself, it was important that the Center for Oncology and Nuclear Medicine be the inaugural project for CLF. The goal of the center is to help improve the lives of the people of Barbados by providing the highest quality cancer treatment possible.

An additional area of CLF’s special projects pillar is Acts of Kindness. Under this program, CLF supports individuals and projects selected by CLF’s Founder and Board of Directors through micro grants.
