CLF held its fifth annual Diamond Ball on September 12, 2019 at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City. Hosted by Late Night show host, Seth Meyers, the event featured performances by ten-time Grammy award-winning artist Pharrell, and songwriter and music producer, DJ Khaled.

Mia Mottley, Prime Minister of Barbados, and civil rights activist, Shaun King, both received the 2019 Diamond Ball Award in recognition of their humanitarian and social justice work. The black-tie benefit raised more than $5 million to support CLF’s climate resilience and education work around the world, including emergency grants to help recovery efforts in the Bahamas.

“My grandmother taught me that it only takes one person, doing one thing, to help someone else,” said Rihanna at the 2019 Diamond Ball. “It doesn’t matter if it’s one dollar or a million. It’s about the collective joining forces to make a difference.”

One of the highlights of the evening came at the end when DJ Khaled was joined on stage by an impressive group of surprise guests that included 2 Chainz, A$AP Ferg, Fat Joe, Megan Thee Stallion, G-Eazy and more.

Previously, the 2018 Diamond Ball was hosted by Issa Rae with special live performances by Childish Gambino and DJ Mustard.
