Projects

Our work in our Founder’s home country of Barbados remains a key priority for us. We support a variety of initiatives in Barbados including climate resilience projects for local schools and health clinics, a scholarship program, and ongoing support for our very first partner — the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

Support for Local Schools & Nonprofits

Since CLF’s founding, the foundation’s support has grown to include supporting local schools and nonprofits with funding for youth development projects, various climate resilience initiatives, and the Clara Lionel Foundation Barbados Scholarship Program.

The CLF Barbados Scholarship

Each year, the CLF Barbados Scholarship is awarded to two talented students, graduating from secondary school in Barbados at the time of application, who plan to attend an accredited college, university, or vocational-technical school for the upcoming academic year.

Partner Highlights

Westbury Primary School

CLF continues to support Westbury Primary School through investments in infrastructure improvements to upgrade the school to a Category 1 shelter. The collaboration builds on a variety of projects including the refurbishment of the library and sourcing technology for research use.

Operation Triple Threat

CLF continues to support Operation Triple Threat (OTT), an intensive performing arts program designed for students between the ages of 4 and 21 where students learn to sing, dance and act as well as receive academic support.

The Clara Braithwaite Center for Oncology and Nuclear Medicine

The Clara Braithwaite Center for Oncology and Nuclear Medicine at Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) in Barbados was established in 2012 with a $1.75M investment in QEH’s first modern radiotherapy machine, the Equinox External Beam Therapy System as well as additional radiotherapy equipment. Today, CLF is collaborating with QEH around the long-term sustainability of the center, as well as supporting the pediatrics unit.
