The Clara Lionel Foundation (CLF) is responding to the tragic natural disasters that have affected the southern United States, Mexico, and the Caribbean over the past month. CLF is committed to responding to natural disasters and working with trusted emergency response partners on the ground to help during times of crises.
Donate today to CLF’s “$1 Campaign” – a new fundraising effort that continues Rihanna’s ongoing support for global education. Every one dollar donated will be a chance for one fan to win a trip to attend the upcoming Diamond Ball in New York City on September 14.
Rihanna is determined to give the opportunity to get an education to as many girls as possible — and not only via scholarships (although she funds plenty of those as well). On Tuesday, the star announced that her Clara Lionel Foundation, which she founded in 2012 and named after her grandparents, has teamed up with ofo, a Beijing-based bike-share initiative, to provide bikes to young girls in Malawi to help them get to school quickly and safely.
Dave Chapelle will host Rihanna’s third Diamond Ball charity event and Kendrick Lamar will perform. The fundraising gala will benefit Rihanna’s Clara Lionel Foundation and take place September 14th at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City.
In January, music’s reigning icon Rihanna visited a school in Malawi to learn about the educational challenges facing students there. Besides singing some of the most popular music on the planet, Rihanna is also an avowed humanitarian and the founder of the Clara Lionel Foundation, which has partnered with Global Citizen and the Global Partnership for Education to advocate for improving access to education for some of the world’s poorest students.
The singer announced on Tuesday that her glitzy fundraiser has booked Cipriani Wall Street on Sept. 14 for the third annual Diamond Ball, marking the first time that the event will be on the East Coast following previous outings in Beverly Hills and Santa Monica.
Being one of the biggest and most visible musical acts on the planet, Rihanna has garnered a great deal of lucrative partnerships—one being with Christian Dior, the famed French maison that contracted the songstress to be the face of its perfume, Secret Garden IV. She also collaborated on a pair of sunglasses, and is a regular at its Paris fashion shows. Now it seems the brand is strengthening the bond in a more profound and socially conscious way.
As one of the world’s most famous female singers of today, Rihanna’s contribution to the world has been plenty impactful in itself. But something fans may forget is how philanthropic the “Love on the Brain” singer is as well.
