CLF held its third annual Diamond Ball on Thursday, September 14 at Cipriani Wall Street. Hosted by comedian Dave Chappelle, the benefit raised over $5 million to support CLF’s global education, health and emergency response programs around the world.

Rihanna is determined to give the opportunity to get an education to as many girls as possible — and not only via scholarships (although she funds plenty of those as well). On Tuesday, the star announced that her Clara Lionel Foundation, which she founded in 2012 and named after her grandparents, has teamed up with ofo, a Beijing-based bike-share initiative, to provide bikes to young girls in Malawi to help them get to school quickly and safely.
Dave Chapelle will host Rihanna’s third Diamond Ball charity event and Kendrick Lamar will perform. The fundraising gala will benefit Rihanna’s Clara Lionel Foundation and take place September 14th at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City.
In January, music’s reigning icon Rihanna visited a school in Malawi to learn about the educational challenges facing students there. Besides singing some of the most popular music on the planet, Rihanna is also an avowed humanitarian and the founder of the Clara Lionel Foundation, which has partnered with Global Citizen and the Global Partnership for Education to advocate for improving access to education for some of the world’s poorest students.
